For the first time in the series, one of the maps is Asian. On the East Asian Hutan Pantai you grow two kinds of rice, with dedicated machinery for planting and harvesting it, and water buffalo roam the pens. The other two maps are series staples, one North American and one European.
The series comes from Swiss studio GIANTS Software, and the first game came out in 2008. Farming Simulator 25 sold two million copies in its first week, beating Farming Simulator 22 over the same period by more than 30%. In its first year it passed four million.
Some reviewers warned that newcomers will struggle to find their feet and get little tutorial help. Others wrote that there isn't much new compared with the previous game. Players leave 87% positive out of 41,611 reviews; critics give it 75 on Metacritic. By our Recommended Score it is #1,434 of 4,736 games.
