Voice chat only carries over short distances. When a monster sends everyone running in different directions, a walkie-talkie keeps you in touch. In November 2023 the game hit 100,000 concurrent players.
One person made it. Zeekerss started out making Roblox games in 2012, and Lethal Company was his twentieth game. It launched in early access in October 2023, when he was 21, and the plan at first was to finish it within six months.
In 2024 it won the Steam Awards category for games that are better with friends and the Golden Joystick for best early access game. One reviewer at launch felt the content and systems were thin, but said the co-op loot runs outweighed that. Players give it 96% positive across 412,159 reviews. In our Recommended Score it ranks 745 of 4,736 games.
