PAC-MAN Championship Edition DX
One mode of the arcade game PAC-MAN Championship Edition DX gives you five or ten minutes to set a high score. Clear the dots on one half of the maze and a fruit on the other half brings a fresh layout. The more points you score, the faster the game runs, and losing a life slows it down.

DX adds sleeping ghosts. Run past them and they fall in behind you in a rainbow line that players nicknamed the ghost train. Grab a power pellet and the whole train turns into a pile of points. When a ghost is about to catch you, the game slips into slow motion.
The first Championship Edition, from 2007, was the last game Pac-Man creator Toru Iwatani worked on as a designer. The Chinese studio Mine Loader Software built the sequel around the thrill of fleeing, and its experiments with more pellets and ghosts produced the sleepers.
IGN and Eurogamer gave DX ten out of ten. Critics praised it across the board and saw a big step up from the original. It came to Steam in 2013 as DX+, with friend challenges on the leaderboards. Players leave 96% positive out of 5,015 reviews; critics give it 93 on Metacritic. By our Recommended Score it is #83 of 4,736 games.
