The second addition lies beyond the fence. Complete conservation projects and you can release animals into wildlife reserves, which you also shape your own way. One reviewer remembered an elephant calf that got startled by their cart and ran back to its parents.
The sequel was announced on the original's sixth anniversary, in November 2025. On launch day, 13 October 2026, it broke the first game's record for concurrent players on Steam.
Critics mostly liked it, and two reviews praised the animals and the building tools. Players at launch were harsher. A week after release they were complaining about bugs such as animals teleporting around the map, fish ending up in crates for no clear reason, visitors protesting at empty enclosures. Critics give it 84 on Metacritic; players leave 63% positive out of 6,038 reviews. By our Recommended Score it is #3,011 of 4,736 games.
Liked it? Try Planet Zoo, the first game, praised for its building tools and criticized for its complex management, and Jurassic World Evolution 3, where dinosaurs breed and their young inherit traits from their parents.
