ULTRAKILL
To heal in ULTRAKILL you have to bathe in enemy blood, and it only sprays on you up close or after you parry an attack. That is how the game breaks the habit of hiding behind corners. A style meter, as in Devil May Cry, rewards aerial tricks and quick weapon swaps, and at the end of a level it combines with your time and kill count into a grade.

The levels lead down through Dante's circles of Hell, three acts of three circles each. Arsi Patala, known as Hakita, started the game in February 2018, and in September 2020 publisher New Blood released it in early access.
Since then new circles have been added through updates. In February 2025 the ULTRA_REVAMP update brought the older levels' visuals up to date, and the programmers rewrote enemy behavior. According to the developers, the old code was such a mess that it got in the way of the eighth circle. The eighth circle, the penultimate of nine, arrived in February 2026.
One reviewer found ULTRAKILL faster and even "more metal" than DOOM Eternal. Players leave 97% positive out of 217,460 reviews. By our Recommended Score it is #586 of 4,736 games.
