FINAL FANTASY RESONANCE

This is the first HD-2D Final Fantasy, but its story is not new. The game retells the first arc of the 2015 mobile game Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. That game was downloaded over 40 million times, then shut down outside Japan in 2024 and in Japan itself in 2025. The music came along with the story. The soundtrack has 120 tracks, 87 from the mobile game and 33 new ones by returning composer Noriyasu Agematsu.

The developers kept random encounters on purpose. They say encounters can be a hassle at times, but are also where memories come from.

One reviewer felt the design inherited from its mobile origins limits the game's ambitions, another found the dungeons lacked pizzazz. Players give it 96% positive across 4,869 reviews, critics 80 on Metacritic. In our Recommended Score it ranks 551 of 4,736 games.
