The 3D match engine had served the series for about 15 years, and the next entry was moving to Unity. But Football Manager 25 was postponed and then cancelled in February 2025 over quality concerns. The next game only arrived in November 2025, so the 2024 edition stayed the latest in the series for two years.

One reviewer found FM24 basically the same Football Manager the series has been for decades, though the new set-piece tactics won praise. Players leave 91% positive out of 28,728 reviews, and critics give it 84 on Metacritic. By our Recommended Score it is #375 of 4,736 games.
