Seasons were new to the series, and everyone shares them. After the prologue the season changes once a week, on every server at once. Playground Games is itself an English studio. According to co-founder Ralph Fulton, choosing seasons meant they had to do Britain, and the other way round.
In December 2019 it added The Eliminator, a 72-player battle royale where you start in a weak car and hunt for faster ones. Then on 15 December 2024 the game was pulled from sale, and the studio put it down to licences. Reportedly, those who already owned it could keep playing.
One reviewer found its Britain a theme-park version of England with a faint whiff of an idealised 1950s, with no graffiti, no suburbs and no industry. Another noted that the seasons are hardly dynamic when they change on a schedule. Players leave 90% positive out of 303,615 reviews, critics give it 88 on Metacritic. By our Recommended Score it is #54 of 4,736 games.
