DARK SOULS III

It was made alongside Bloodborne, mostly by separate teams. On the second game series creator Hidetaka Miyazaki had only supervised; here he was back as director and admitted that Bloodborne shaped the new game. Reviewers noticed that combat had sped up compared with earlier entries and often credited Bloodborne for it. Shields stayed.
Miyazaki called the game a turning point and a big closure for the series. It has sold more than 10 million copies, and at the 2016 Golden Joystick Awards it was named Ultimate Game of the Year.
Many critics saw it as a fitting finale. At launch some reviewers faulted technical issues, a lack of surprises and a more linear world than before. Players leave 94% positive out of 280,091 reviews; critics give it 89 on Metacritic. By our Recommended Score it is #58 of 4,736 games.
Liked it? Try DARK SOULS: REMASTERED, the refreshed first part of the trilogy, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, where Miyazaki traded Dark Souls for a shinobi in Sengoku-era Japan.
