Project Zomboid
Project Zomboid is a zombie survival game you cannot win. The infection has no cure, and your only job is to last as long as you can. It all starts on July 9, 1993, in a fictional Knox County, Kentucky, sealed off by quarantine, and some towns on the map are loose copies of real ones.

The developers had a disaster of their own. On October 15, 2011, burglars broke into the flat of two of them and took two laptops holding the code of a nearly finished update. Backups outside the flat were rare, and the update was badly delayed.
The game entered Steam Early Access in 2013. Retooled multiplayer arrived in December 2021 with Build 41. At the end of July 2026 Build 42 went stable, and on August 2 more than 121,000 people were playing at once, almost twice the 2022 record.
If you want a game you can beat, this is not it. Players leave 94% positive out of 372,801 reviews. By our Recommended Score it is #715 of 4,736 games.
