The game comes from Madfinger Games, a Czech studio in Brno. Before this it made mostly mobile games, including the shooters Shadowgun and Dead Trigger.
Gray Zone Warfare entered Steam early access on April 30, 2024, and sold 400,000 copies in its first two days. One outlet thought the uproar around Escape from Tarkov had opened the door for it.
At launch it was slammed for crashes and lag, and on release day its Steam rating stood at Mostly Negative. Many more reviews have come in since, and players leave 72% positive out of 70,913. By our Recommended Score it is #3,964 of 4,736 games.
