You fight for the Super Earth of the 22nd century, which brings "managed democracy" to the galaxy. The game has been compared to Starship Troopers from 1997, another satire of a militaristic regime at war with giant insects.

By 5 May 2024 it had sold 12 million copies, faster than any PlayStation game up to then. That same May, Sony announced that the Steam version would need a PSN account, and sales were blocked in 177 countries and territories where the network is not available. Players buried the game in negative reviews, and two days later Sony dropped the requirement.

For the first two weeks after launch the game struggled with server and login problems. One reviewer found the gunplay the best in its class while criticising the crashes, another found the missions repetitive. Players leave 75% positive out of 851,645 reviews, critics give it 83 on Metacritic. By our Recommended Score it is #1,215 of 4,736 games.
